Hey guys, just wondering if this card will be good enough with a new PC with the following specs:

    Win 7 64bit
    3.46GHz Intel Core i7 990X (6 cores, 12 threads)
    MSI X58 Motherboard
    24GB DDR3-1333 Triple Channel (6 x 4GB)

    Adobe Premier 5.5

    Thanks!

Assuming you are on CS5.5, YES.

If you can overclock that 990x to at least 4GHz it will help, as well.

Tom, if you don't mind, could you post your 'gaming pc' specs?

Yes, most certainly. 1/2 res real-time will be very comfortable. With an overclock full-res is possible upto 25 fps, but you won't need it unless you have a 4K display.

    the 580 would be AWESOME!

You may want to consider the 3gb ram version, though the 1.5 will keep you pretty happy, I am sure.

And you will get free copy of Batman Arkham City if you order one now! ;-)

Whoa! I just looked at Toms thread about his computer. That is BITCHIN'!

    HOWEVER,

You could build 6 computers to edit raw red files in real time for $13k.

    Here are my specs:

    i7 950 overclocked to 3.75 ghz
    12 gb corsair vengeance ram
MSI Big Bang XPower mother board
GTX 460 (You have to kind of hack the system to accept this in Mercury Playback engine, didn't know this when I built it but it works great!)
2 Western Digital Drives sata 3 in raid 0
    1 sata 3 backup drive
120gb SSD for OS and Programs
    850w gold rated power supply
    BluRay Burner
    Corsair h70 cooler
All in a Case with Nice Airflow

As a point of reference, you could edit in real time with my system or buy this one:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...757854-_-Combo

and add a couple hard drives, Windows 7 Pro, and double the ram. AWESOME!!!! For just over $2k! If you can't build a system yourself, then there are places that will, or I will!

As a point of reference, the new i7 2700k is running at stock speeds near as dammit to on par with the 990x!

    See here:

    ok, I lied, it's BEATING the 990x.

    Also, check this:

The 580 will be awesome, the quadro cards don't even break in the top 20 systems.
