I still have a Panasonic XLR microphone, left from a HVX-200. Can I connect it to the Scarlet with an XLR-to-Mini-XLR-adaptor? The Scarlet doesn't have an inbuilt micro, does it?

Yes, you can use an XLR to Mini adaptor. And no, SCARLET does not have a built-in microphone.

Okay. So the Scarlet has Mini-XLR-audio-outputs? Because someone mentioned a Pro Audio Module for Scarlet that gives XLR-Outputs, but I could not find it in the store.

Scarlet has 3.5mm mini TRS phone jacks like Epic on the brain. Two balanced mono mic inputs with phantom power. Requires a simple XLR to mini-jack adapter cable or something like x's adapter module. http://x.com/a-box-epic-scarlet

And how do I attach my microphone to the Scarlet body? Does Red offer somthing that solves this?

I'm pretty sure you can use the DMSC Tactical Top Plate along with a RED Arm to attach accessories to the body. Alternatively, you can use the Tactical Cages (here and here).

Can somebody from RED confirm the phantom power? I am a bit surprised to see mini TRS phone jacks for mic input, since it is very uncommon to use those for phantom powered connections due to the short involved when such a mini jack is pulled accidentally when phantom is running! If there is really phantom power this is going to be a major service issue IMO. It might also break microphones.

It also doesnt look as if these MINI TRS jacks have a thread for secure locking of inserted mini jacks. I am hoping I overlooked something, I was sure to see the same mini XLR jacks as on the other REDs....

I just see Epic seems to have the same mic input mini TRS jacks....I am confused...it says:
Need more connectors than the body provides? Dual HD-SDI OUT, GENLOCK, AUX power / GPIO, Timecode and Mini XLRs on the Basic I/O Module....

The Neutrik 3.5 jacks are about as good as you can get to build an adapter lead. just don't get fooled in to thinking 3.5mm jacks represent a professional standard connector. If your using Phantom volts then expect them to crackle if to rotate the connector. Sorry for the negativeness but thats the nature of 3.5mm jacks.

Are you sure these mini-jack audio inputs are phantom powered? I was under the impression that 48V is still a few firmware updates away?
