I'm working on a documentary project and so far I've got over 7,000 items that need to be loaded every single time I open the project and it takes at least 10 minutes. Then it has to index nearly 4,000 items before I can use the search option in Premiere, that takes another 10-15 minutes, and when I do search, I get a permanent beach ball and Premiere hangs until I force quit.
My project is mostly red footage, some .m4a audio, and jpeg images. I deleted the jpeg images to see if it would help, but it really didnt make a big difference.
The project is becoming so large that Premiere seems to be having lots of trouble. I'm on a 2010 Mac Pro 12-core 2.66ghz w/ 32GB RAM. Shouldn't this be enough? I can't really split up the project into different .prproj files because its a doc and I need access to all the footage to edit. Never had issues like this working on an AVID with a lot more media. Why hasn't Premiere attained the same ability in its 13+ years of existence?
