NYU SHOOTS, well, so far I have done 3 on epic and one with an epic and a scarlet and it was amazing. HDR shooting takes up a heck a lot of space but the options -- my goodness, nothing I couldn't solve quickly with either a scarlet or an Epic. Epic is Epic and Scarlet is pretty Epic too though the gap in price remains there for a reason The Epic is like a Bughatti ( sure I spelled it wrong ) and scarlet is so similar but with less compression rates so a Porsche maybe?
I wanna address one thing I would highly recommend using only Red batteries. They last a good long time and never fail. I rented entra, let's just say, alternative bats and they were useless. The price on that 6 pack is a steal and I would take it in a heartbeat if I had the funds, stick with Red powered batteries.
It's no secret i primarily shoot/light but taking a page from mr land I decided to DP and Direct my 2nd year film. This begins this week and I am just finishing a show flying back from Palmdale and I'm tired and sore.
My respect and love for Red keeps growing, can't be ignored though people are always annoyed with success -- oh f well.
RED cameras will have been used in 6 NYU films I dp'd by end of school year ( 4 Graduate and 2 Undergraduate ) first one is free :)
But in seriousness heading into brain surgery and making these cameras make money is a priority for this year.
I thank Mr. Land and of course Jim Jannard -- special thank you for jarred I think he is a machine.
Best
