I didnt buy the kit, just body and redmote and will buy media etc. The kit doesn't give you any discounts, so it didnt make sense to me to order that when I could just order exactly the pieces I want to pay for. Side handle and redvolts seem like they'd be a very elegant solution for a camera with 5-20w power consumption, but I couldn't justify it for the $1k price of the handle and the proprietary batteries that are 2-3x the price of pro batteries in terms of $/Wh, especially when there are no released power specs for Scarlet yet but the indication is that if it's close to Epic's >60W, I'd need 10-20 REDVOLTs to get through a day.
I only ordered a redmote since its functionality and price made it seem like the way to go if I were to choose one method to control my camera. In the Epic forums, I'm hearing very good things about redmote with the newest firmware as being the best way to control the camera, and it doesn't hurt that it's also the cheapest ($550 compared to $950 handle or $1600 touchscreen).
