The Sonnet/Red Rocket card from memory only plays back r3ds, but it'd be nice if it did ProRes as well.

We do? What does "very slow database function"mean? Resolve's database function is not any different, than, for example, Baselight.
And Resolve from get go was designed as file based grading platform, unlike DaVinci 2k.

After 8.1 I have no database/conform issues with Resolve. Works like a charm...

    Thats not a silly comment...

REDLOGFILM 4k was most certainly impressive to grade with. If ARRI did bring out a 4k PRORES machine.. then that would most certainly get my head turning, but that said, RAW is not over kill. I like being able to adjust thins afterward, you cannot reset white balance, gammas etc with a PRO RES file. Colour is burnt in...

Conform yes, but what database issues? What database issues, that had been resolved in 8.1? I never had any issues with database in Resolve. And I had been using it since early Mac OSX Beta...

    LOL

The database slowed down everything when you worked with huge projects (100+ days of shooting) like the series I regularily work with. Used up to 5 minutes just to save the project, whenyou had to load the shots first and conform to them from an XML/EDL when you conformed between formats (in my case mov to r3d/EXR)

This was related to how the conform worked.

As you now can load just the shots you need, the database does not slow down the workflow.

It used to do that tremendously when it hit the ceiling...

    Anyhow.

This is now a non-issue, as it actually works very well! :)

(And I contribute to derailing Marks lovely discovery! Sorry!)
