there is no official confirmation from RED, or I missed that,
but for now if you need a scarlet user manual you can read one for epic https://www.red.com/support/all/downloads
people say it is 90% applicable to Scarlet, but i'd love to have all 100
Hey Red Team.. There's an error on page 34 of the manual. In figure 17, GUI Display Elements, the frame guide labels for title and action safety are reversed. Title safety should be the inner box and action safety should be the outer box.
Might I make a suggestion, though? How about instead of (or in addition to) title safe guides, we get 4:3 center-protect guides?
Unfortunately, almost every network now center-cuts the HD feed and simulcasts it to SD. Shockingly, 44% of American homes are still watching TV in SD. So it's good to know you're not framing such that an actor's face is completely out of the shot when the networks down-rez and crop it. Dont laugh. I've seen it.

Tim brings up some good points. I'd also like to suggest that if the manual exists on paper for the customers, it might be nice to post it as a PDF for download on the support section of the website, even if it's just a preliminary version.
After I posted this, I thought that maybe I had missed something in the manual about the guide overlay options. Can anyone confirm that there is, in fact, no option for 4:3 center-protect guides?

Take a look at page 90. There is a 4x3 frame guide option. If you don't like the solid frame guide, take a look at page 92 where you can set a 4x3 action and title guide.
Doh! Of course. There it is. Thanks, Stacey.
