Red Armor only applies if you use 100% Red batteries and accessories. All of these cost cutting measures (if you want Red Armor) are invalid.

And if you don't spend the $2850 extra on Red Armor for Epic-X ($1500 for Scarlet), you're stuck with only a one year warranty on a $28K ($10K) camera. :(

It's a pretty tough call what to do.

I believe Red Armor on Scarlet is $1500.
    Epic's Armor cost is $2850

Thanks, I updated my original post with the Scarlet pricing.

The original point still stands: Red Armor stipulates 100% Red batteries, accessories, and cables, so the cost-cutting measures in this thread don't apply if you want to get it.

    That's the dilemma. :(

I just read the terms and conditions for RED Armor and I don't see that language anywhere.
What I read was that RED Armor will NOT cover damage caused by third party components, but it does not say that using third party components will negate your warranty.
So - if you use a third party battery plate and your brain stops working for some other unrelated reason, it would still be covered.
But if you use a third party battery plate and it fries your brain due to a manufacturer defect in the plate...well then, yeah, you won't be covered.

That's how I read it anyhow - but would be nice to get clarification from a RED Team member.

About the Viewfactor plate, what happens if you ever add on a module to Epic/Scarlet? Will the last module have the same attachment plate to go with the Viewfactor? Just curious

From the viewfactor site (emphasis added):
The plate also uses an upgradeable cable assembly that can be changed out to a longer version in the future for even more mounting options. Since the same hole pattern on the rear of the Epic cameras are on the back of the Red expansion modules, one needs only to place the screws at the end of the module then upgrade to a longer cable option (available soon) to provide future proof power options for your Epic.
