Done - never liked the bastards! Now . . . can a internal Epic rework be done with firmware to go with on the next gen or is that an over simplification? It's the wides I want - which seem to be where the problem resides.

Well even a 35mm Leica M and above would be worth having on Epic or Scaret

Got a chance to test the noctilux here in Singapore. so only the wider lens are affected by this unfortunate issue?

I have now tested and sold 5 NOCTILUX .95 lenses, of course I do have a brand new one for my self waiting right here, as I will be personally using this MAGICAL lens in some night Fashion shoots in our Movie here in Rome... ;)

What I have done were the usual tests I do with all the DSLR glass, by 3 or more and test them to get the best one... With Canon has always been the best out of 3, or some times 5, however, even so not surprised at all, I was very please, since i have the Leica Summilux Cine Primes coming, that also the M Still lenses share an incredible quality control, intact all 5 Noctilux tested were exactly the same, an that is impressive for a Still lens.

By far however I do love the .95 for hits ridiculous extreme SDOF and even illumination, and when I say illumination I do mean it, as it is a lens with a head light inside, when shot wide open at night with no additional lighting just lights up your subjects like a christmas tree.

If I was to chose which lenses to use of the M series on Epic or Scarlet, after all the testing they would be:

21mm 1.4 Summilux (if RED can do some magic to allow for the wider)
    35mm 1.4 Summilux
50mm 1.4 Summilux (This been the absolute Sharpest of them all)
    75mm 2.0 Apo Summicron
90mm 2.0 Apo Summicron (this been the absolute BEST Still lens ever made)

Also after holding in your hand this lens, even so ever petit, they fill your hand like a sold piece of metal, as this have no plastic elements like the Canons do, so their fill is very different.

Even so we'll be sussing all kind of different glass on our Epic cameras for our Movie, and we are already testing our casting with it, I believe that the Noctilux will sure hold some of the best scenes in the film, can't wait!!

Also now that I have sold the M9, I have nothing to shoot it with, so we are all waiting eagerly my friend... ;)

    Hey Jim,
I'm sure you know Leica has some really great glass in the fast/wide angle territory. I already have the 35mm Summilux Series 2. I would be in heaven to be able to use it on my Scarlet. It actually took 6 months to order at my local camera shop.
    Cheers,

Below, you will find the link to a piece shot entirely with the EPIC, RED Leica Mount, and a Leica Noctilux 0.95 lens.

The video was shot by Dan Martensen, represented by MAP, Inc. Creative Chaos was production. Mark Anton Read under 59 Still + Motion did color grading, and H&M worked with an agency in Stockholm to deliver video. 59 Still + Motion, under the direction of Alan Balian lead with Technical Production and Camera Support.

Notice that the video is default at 360p but please watch it at least 720p. There's also a 3d version on the youtube link.
