Just had my cousin install the red rocket card, he's a RED ROCKET and REDONE owner himself...

The driver is installed, firmware updated and yet my brand new 8 core MacPro (2 weeks old) keeps freezing now, about 5 minutes after startup, sometimes less than that. Happened about 6 times since the cards been installed. As if the computer is not liking the card.

Any idea? The computer is running Lion, not sure if that makes any difference.

Computer hasnt frozen for the first two weeks I've had it until this card went in. The computer has detected the card fine and Red Cine X even recognizes it but the computer keeps freezing...

Thanks for any help you can offer

UPDATE: We took the card out of the tower, but I wasn't sure how to uninstall the Red Rocket drivers? Anyway the computer is still continuing to freeze even without the card in there. If I knew how to uninstall the drivers I would give that a try.

PROBLEM SOLVED: Thanks to Brian Clark @ RED!

I had to install the BETA Red Rocket Driver. Maybe the Release version isn't compatible with Lion? Not sure but my computer stopped freezing as soon as I installed the beta driver. Awesome.

    Go to the directory /System/Library/Extensions/
    and remove this file bundle:
    redrocket.kext

I don't seem to have a system or library folder. Maybe Lion doesn't have those folders? I know on my old iMac I had them. I also didn't find redrocket.kext when I searched for it

So the Library folder is hidden on Lion. I figured out how to unhide it, but there is no Extensions folder within it...
