the optimo rouge is a nice lens.
i dont like the ilumas. had them for tests. their T1.3 was not even on all lenses. qualitywise it wasnt optimal too.
master primes are really nice....but a little bit heavy for a prime (not that much ;)
i went with cooke s4, i just like the look.

a version 2 of the red primes would be nice. lighter, more focus markings T1.9. to squeeze outthe last stop T1.3 is difficult in that pricerange. i guess
amd we ordered the 17-50 v2
i guess its a perfect run and gun lens.

    Mark,

I think, that for today or the near future, you are looking at either the Illuminas or the forthcoming Canon Eos Cinema lenses (pl or eos mount). Fast, Light, etc.

Can't wait for the upcoming tests with Illuminas!

Yes, Uniqs will be in the test.

Looks like we won't have time to test zooms. Bit of a bummer because lots of us would love such a test. The Aluras are really nice, very little vignetting on the wide one (vignettes til 19 I think) and none on the long lens(!). In contrast, the film-centric (ie. non-DP series) Optimos vignette. So that sort of test will have to be for another occasion.

Has anyone tried Cooke S5's yet? I love the look of S4's as well and was wondering about these T1.4 Cookes. I guess they are as big and heavy as Master primes though?

RED have gone VERY quiet on their electronic mount.

Last I heard was when Jim was taking questions at REDucation back in the summer; I asked him if the RED electronic mount would be a brand new design, or a PL mount adapted with extra contacts for electronic control. He replied that it was a custom new mount design, unrelated to PL.

Since then... nada. Except for the announcement of (non-electronic) anamorphics. I don't know if the RED electronic lens project is dead, or just back-burnered given the 10,000 other things on their job list. But I wouldn't bet on it any time soon...

Look on the positive side: it gives me time to earn money to afford the RED electronic glass if and when it finally does appear! In the meantime, the Nikon mount delay means I'm for sure throwing in the towel and buying high-end Canon glass(1). I can resell it if and when the Nikon electronic mount appears at not too significant a loss.

    (1) Except for the Nikon 14-24mm f2.8. *That* piece of glass is so gorgeous I'll use it with a Canon mount adapter, in preference to any Canon wide zooms. Given the triviality of focusing such a wide lens, I'll live with the lack of autofocus.

Sounds to me you should get in line for a set of Leicas...

If they do update the RPPs it would probably go up to 9K or something like that...considering they know their future path now on what K is what within that EPIC body...I'm sure lens development, testing etc. is all time consuming but also expensive so I'd guess they would future proof it enough...
In which case I doubt they'll be electronic, they may do different flavors but I'm thinking the most compact ones won't be electronic, though who knows! It would be good though if it was a mix, so you could use them on non-PL and on RED's Electronic PL (if they made one). Saves needing adapters and what not plus it'd sell like crazy in that case

    On the Leica note:

I hope to god they make another set of Summilux-Cs for FF35 and beyond...that'd be damn awesome, especially if they took it to T1.3/T1.2 be crazy awesome...but alas, one can only just dream
If they did I can only imagine the price

Why not consider the OptiTek Nikon ProLock?
