    Good Stuff Thanks Third Man,

The quote about the shutter being “out of phase” Is very interesting..
My understanding of shutters… mechanical or electronic is:
The main duty of a shutter is to let more or less light into/onto the pick-up device.
By adjusting from 180 degrees to 90 degrees you would allow twice as much light to hit the pick-up device, thus causing streaking..so I’m not sure how anything is out of phase..
Either I’m missing something or the term phase is not being used correctly.

The point of the article is clear and with the Nikon & Canon mount converter still photography lens’s can be used for the RED PL mount camera with some degree of success or a certain creative look…you would not dare to try and follow action and expect the focus to remain sharp. So there are limitations…but the still glass will be just another great creative tool for us to play with !

Adjusting a shutter from 180 degrees to 90 degrees would cut the exspouser time in half thereby letting in ONE HALF as much light.

The "out of phase" refers to leaving the shutter open while the camera advances to the next frame. It creates a motion blur streak on the highlights in a frame.
