I wanted to make everyone aware. My SCARLET Ti PL mount is about to ship and I wanted to confirm some rumors I was reading on Red User about credit cards giving an additional 1 year warranty over the manufacturer's warranty. If you're planning on relying on your credit card for extended warranty my advice is call your card's benefits department and ask specifically what the rules are. I was told by Mastercard that they will not provide the additional coverage for items that exceed $10,000. My Scarlet Ti PL mount is $12,500. Even though the brain itself is $9700 My Bomb Squad rep told me it will be listed on the invoice for $12,500 which will make it uneligible for Matercard's extended warranty. All that said- I also called my Visa card's benefits department and my Visa WILL honor the extended warranty even in excess of $10,000. But there are all kinds of exclusions and such. Make sure you keep the original credit card receipt and warranty.

All credit card companies have different rules. I decided to suck it up and buy the RED ARMOR. Since the Scarlet is so new and untested I just decided that it's a smart investment. Red covers your shipping to and from as well as any repairs and parts needed. It's a lot of money but I like the idea of having 3 years piece of mind. I had a Mac Pro go down on me about 2 months before my Apple Care Extended warranty lapsed. I was really glad I had went ahead and purchased it.

just a reminder, if you read the policy on it, you can buy red armor within the year you purchased your camera. so there's no real need to get it now if people ar strapped for cash. the same applies with apple care :)

No. The rules have changed; you must purchase red armor before your order is even processed. Check the red.com FAQ and multiple armor-specific threads.

Me I plan on using my business visa card...

Not correct at all. Purchase terms have changed on RED ARMOR. Might want to check on that, buddy!
