  1. #1 Red Handle w/ 15mm Rods
    is this possible somehow?

I am going to be getting some follow focus gear to go with my production pack, as the only follow focus i have right now is an Arri FF2 which is 15mm offset.. after some research here it appears that the 15mm adaptors I got from the Red store are centered and not offset so I wont be able to use them with my FF2.

I can use my FF2 however, with the ET Arri baseplate. but I just realized now I wont be able to use the red handles when doing handheld stuff, as they are made to go with the 19mm Production Pack.

Unless there is something I am missing, I am in need of a solution to this...

*** Is there some way to use the ET Arri base, 15mm rods, my FF2, and the Red Handles that are made to go with the Production Pack? Is there some kind of adapter I can get to fasten the Red Handles to 15mm rods?

I have a feeling I'll be selling my 19mm follow focus gear soon on ebay... I hope...

I don't have my camera yet, but it sounds like you need to go with a standard 15mm Arri style support system. The Red-Arri 15mm base plate may do the trick.

You could use bushings to attach the Red handles to a set of 15mm rods. Or just a new follow focus and go 19mm?

    Good Luck,

maybe you didnt read my post correctly, or i didnt write it well enough.

i ordered that arri base plate, i also ordered the production pack (i have three cameras coming in...)

the only follow focus i have so far is the FF2, which is 15mm offset, which means i cant use the red handles with it, unless there is something i am unaware of (i hope so) that will enable me to attach them.

i will probably get some 19mm follow focus stuff for my other two reds, but i am hoping red will post something that will make me think twice :whistling:

Ohh, Sorry Zak, Or should I say neighbor 115 & 116!

Maybe go 19mm system and Chrozeil makes a 19mm standard to 15mm mini adapter. Might that work?

Sorry this example is an Ebay item, but it has a good picture:

you could use the red handles by themselves (without the cross piece) if you had some 19mm to 15mm insert sleeves. Most steadicam guys have these. (SEE EDIT) I can't garuntee they will grab tight enough though. You could also order some Tango Bluehandles like everyone else in the world and use them on all three sizes (LW15mm+Studio15mm+19mm)

    EDIT:

Here is an easy place to get them:

    Hey Zak,

I'm in the same boat. I have the arri ff-2 and mb-18, both 15mm rod based.

The easiest soloution is to hold onto your matte box like most professional operators do anyway. You have the best control and leverage this way. (don't do this if it is a clip on).

Your second soloution is to get step down rings for your handles. They are a common thing for using a preston or other remote focus motors. This is good but they can easily get lost.

    Good luck.
