What is your legitimate question? Its pretty straight forward.

Curious, Trevor...did you buy a V/Factor plate say Anton Bauer mount? And if so, did you notice its the same Anton Bauer plate?
Ava, I'm not sure what I can say that won't piss you off, but I'll do my best to explain

What is advertised on the MG1 site is a battery plate. For this example, we'll use the Anton Bauer battery plate. The one I linked to and linked an image to. Their battery plate is listed as being $499. Yes, in reality, that price is JUST for the battery plate, because their site states that currently you receive a FREE quick-release plate with the purchase of said $499 battery plate. My point is, this appears to be the SAME battery plate that B&H and everyone else has listed as the $399 QRC-EPIC. My question is, what's the difference? What makes the MG1 plate (shown as an Anton Bauer plate in their image, nothing special here!) $499, when the same thing is $399 everywhere else? Quick release plate is NOT included in that price because it's FREE. Or... is it?

I don't have a beef with MG1 at all, I am not attacking them or people who buy their accessories or saying that anything is better or worse.

To answer your last question, yes, I purchased Brook's/V-Factor's AB-APU. Yes, it's an Anton Bauer battery plate, but that battery plate is attached to a custom-designed, machined and anodized aluminum quick-release assembly. A replaceable shielded cable with Lemo connector, custom screws, beautiful workmanship and some profit are all part of the price. I'm not saying it's better or worse though... that's not at all what my questions were about. My question, again, is what sets the MG1 AB battery plate apart from the QRC-EPIC, and what constitutes the $100 price premium? If you're wanting to save money on something, you deserve to know if something else out there is the same but $100 cheaper.

This post was written hastily before rushing off to a meeting, sorry for any typos or run-on sentences. I hope that it's helped to clear things up though.

It seems their Blueshape V-Lock batteries for the 210 have good prices, well better then here in Italy any ways, weird that they cost more here were they are made... :(
What do you think of them? What sizes do you mainly use and how many do you have to use in a typical day?

Ava, just curious, are you in any way associated to MG-1? If so you should state that and if not you should state it as well. Just for clarity.

I have always stated my affiliations so that no one is confused by my motivations. Sometimes I even suggest a solution which is not offered by the company I work for, simply because I am trying to be helpful.

No accusations here, just trying to promote clarity and civility.

For the $499, you also get their Custom anodized aluminum Detachable plate as a Pre-order price only for a limited time...like the website states. I don't think they are using any different Anton Bauer plate except they have reduce the cost and the savings are going to the customers like you and I.

I don't have a beef with MG1 at all, I am not attacking them or people who buy their accessories or saying that anything is better or worse.

    Great to hear that.

I presume you answered your question yourself. You are getting both. An Anton Bauer battery plate + a Custom designed Anodized Aluminum Detachable plate. Its sets it apart by offering a detachable plate for your AB battery mount. So, again...you are paying for the detachable plate for $100 if that's what you want to hear.

Much clearer now...thank you for your detailed explanation. Again, I can't speak for them...you need to contact them to get all the info you need. This is what I know; what they told me.

I don't work nor represent MG1 Concepts at all. I bought one of their new V-mount plate and other DSLR products from them. I feel I'm defending them here. I very much like their products and great customer service.

I'm all about promoting great products like yourself to others here or at other professional forums that I belong to.

Mitch, you should buy some of their products.

Then we're talking about false advertising... offering something as "free" but actually charging more for it.

I'm not sure what you don't understand about that, but that's how it looks to me. No one else has chimed in telling me I'm crazy, but I'm looking at the info in front of me and it doesn't add up. Hence the discussion.

FYI it has nothing to do with what I want to or don't want to hear.

I suppose you could say it's all about "presentation", kinda like how I bought a bike at my local mom/pop shop for a premium over direct sale since the local store offers free tune-ups. Yes, the product is marked up, but I know what extra bit I'm getting for "free".
