    But what does default mean? If it is factory set then what about hot pixels that appear later in EPIC's life?

    Sorry bit I mioght be OT but I experienced the same problem recently using a Red One with MX sensor. 1fps (ISO 800), you can actually see the pin size white dots on the screen. Black balance did not help. Camera was set for ISO 200 (1fps), black balanced and the pin size spots disappeared.

    This has always been the case with the RED ONE. I usually never take it under 1/6 second shutter. The EPIC being able to go to 1/2 second (hopefully longer in the future...?) with a clean image is fantastic!
