This is my theory from Jarred's update. Disclamer: pure speculation just for fun ;D...

I beleive you may be able to read between the lines here. If you ordered a Ti Canon Scarlet on November 3rd and another ordered a standalone Ti Canon mount on December 15th it would seam fair that a mount would be allocated to the Scarlet first. Therefore if the mounts are out of back order mid January theoretically we could see the Ti Canon Scarlets start shipping very soon. At least that is what I hope as there are only three ahead of me based on the list! ;D

My understanding was always that when all the orders preceding the November 3rd unveiling will be fulfilled Ti Canon mounts will start going out both on Scarlet-Xs and as separate items.

And if there will be 25 Ti Canon Scarlets in front of one separate Ti Canon mount, then these cameras should go out first.

This concurs with RED's philosophy of shipping things based on the date of order.

That would be great news as long as something else doesn't delay the body...

    +1 +1 +1 :)

As long as RED isn't having any production issues with the body, I agree with you all in that I would predict the Scarlets with Ti Canon Mounts should start shipping soon. There's only two ahead of me on the list, so I hope this is what's going to happen. :D

Im quite confused how they have choosen the priority since Ai canon mounts rolling out before the backordered pre nov3 (canon ti mount) is solved?

I wonder how many of you that ordered the Ti canon mount over the cheaper Ai did this for a faster delivery?

I read more people here choose TI over AI for a faster delivery. Even one of my reps confirmed this twice but it seams like the Ai will be rolling out before. So the info must have been quite weak if serval persons misread it. Still you don't have the option to modify you order to Ai but instead have to do a completely new order. So there really no option=)
Of course Ti is better and once I have the camera delivered its all good but the selling point for the Ti canon mount was that i understood it would ship before Ai. Let me put it this way, I'd rather have the Ai delivered faster and spend the "saved" money getting the mattebox now, then pay premium for Ti and wait longer.

Does anyone know exactly why the Canon mounts are so heavily backordered? What's holding it up? CNC milling, getting electronics, assembly, packaging?

Got my Canon Ti mount through Canon Europe this morning. I ordered it couple hours after it became available into the store. Ironically enough, that was the only morning this fall I did not first check RedUserNet. Did not expect Red to open the Canon mount orders during the weekend. They seem to literally work 24/7.

Tony, in my understanding the CNC milling of Ti is the main thing blocking high speed mass production. Machining titan requires special toolsets.

Tooling is definitely a factor as well as the sheer number that were ordered when they went on sale in August. Someone in the Recon forum stated they received their email for the standalone mount and ordered on Sept 11. It took months to get through the first day so we should see some real progress shortly as I suspect there were no where near the amount of orders for the stand alone mount in October...

Hopefully we will start hearing some allocations soon...
