  1. #1 FEATURE REQUEST.--R3d SNAPSHOT in camera....
I'm not sure how anyone else feels about this but there is one thing I would love.

    SNAPSHOT R3D mode in camera.

Let's say I flip that stills motion switch on my side handle.

My EPIC then does the following.

    1. Compression changes to 3:1
    2. enters 5K FF mode
    3. Goes into HDR X mode
    4. Records user definable 3-12 frames when I hit record.

This feature would make me complete.
This feature would SAVE a lot on DATA.
This feature is excellent for location scouts.

    Please add to my list..

    I could go on.

Surely something like this must be in the works to complete the DSMC picture?

On a related note, I expressed my wish to Deanan for a 'max redcode' feature/button which automatically rides the compression to the best possible, maybe capped at a user-selectable limit, as you move around between frame rates and sizes.

Knowing what's possible and what isn't with Red is difficult - sometimes what seems simple is a technical nightmare, other times they deliver things that seem impossible in a way thats become almost routine!

+1 This would be a great feature.

Also while in "motion mode" it would be great to have the REDCODE rate automatically switch to the lowest amount of compression possible with the current settings, frame rates, HDRx. With the capability of letting the user select the minimum REDCODE ratio, (i.e. 5:1, 6:1). I notice many people including myself from time to time will grab a shot at 96FPS or 120fps and forget to switch the REDCODE rate back. Obviously not an urgent request, but would be helpful in a lot of Run N Gun work, or for people that might not be as familiar with shooting RED.

Thanks for the hard work RED Team!

    John,

I know that your request would be hard to fulfill as I have asked about a similar thing in the past.

I hope this one is doable.

    It would be way cool.

Once pre / loop record is enabled on Epic it would be fantastic to have a photo mode that would record a small 2-5 sec burst spanning just before and after we release the shutter. I wouln't help with battery life but otherwise would be a great feature.

sounds a little bit like taking a picture... :)

could be useful for some frame overlay action, no?

There are many moments when you do just want to take a picture.

I'm surprised no one has asked about this before. Even a few seconds of RC RAW is a space eater. It would be so handy but it's more as a way to manage data.

Maybe it's already in the works. It seems obvious for sure.

Yeah, it seems like the "still" part of the "Digital Still & Motion Camera". That switch on the side handle has to have some use planned for it. :-)
