It happened with Kingdom of Heaven too, huge chunks missing until the director's cut. Ridley should be allowed to make his long films...

Should have been longer. The deleted scenes give so much info missing in the film and fills in character motivation that wasn't there in the theatrical version. Frustrating these things were cut. We even find out what David says to the Engineer...

It took a fair bit of convincing to get me to sit down and watch the extended cut of Kingdom of Heaven after the theatrical version, but well worth it in the end. I'm now starring at my still shrink wrapped Prometheus blu-ray on the shelf!

open it and just watch the deleted and alternate scenes. You will understand the film better and be less upset after seeing them.

agreed. I could have used another two hours in Gladiator. :)
