A little math may help. Basically it would not be recommended to use batteries with 4.8A Max with scarlet.

If the battery has a range like most v-mounts, it will have a voltage of ~11-16V as it discharges depending on the load. Toward the end of the battery (worst case), that means 11v*4.8A=52.8W which is less than scarlets quoted spec of 60w. Its possible it'd work but I would definitely not recommended it since it could be bad for the camera and since battery capacity drops a lot when pushing most cells to their max.

see everything is SAME on Epic and Scarlet

    from Scarlet and Epic manuals..

Wow, you sure go through a lot to try and prove your point...

From the Scarlet FAQ posted on November 3rd, 2011 at 7:53 PM by Mr. Jannard under Recon:

Since Scarlet-X has a lower data rate, does it burn less power and have greater battery life?
Yes. More than slight and less than a lot.
The same thing can be found on RED's FAQ page here: http://www.red.com/faqs/scarlet/recording

Kemalettin, if you have a personal issue with me, I suggest you contact me through a PM instead of derailing my threads.

    EDIT:
I've updated your quote with your newer, "nicer" sounding one.

Thank you. That is just the sort of math that I'm looking for. =D I sent an email to Bebob, so I'll get an "official" answer in the next week probably. But, thank you for your reply. :)

I play nice. It's the other user here who's trying to derail this thread.

At Kemalettin's request, I have modified his quote in my previous post.

I hope we can continue this discussion without any further derailing.

Actually, the manuals are an excellent source of information; something many folks here on R/U forget (or don't realize).

    +1

I love manuals. If fact, I've already read the Scarlet-X manual twice already. =)

Okay, this thread seems to have gotten off-course a little... Hopefully, we can try and get it back on track.

I sent an email to RED yesterday with a question regarding third-party batteries, and I just received a reply back. To be honest, I am shocked that RED is replying to emails on Christmas. =)

They said that they do not recommend using third-party batteries (i.e. Bebob). If a third-party battery were to cause any damage to a RED camera, it would void the camera's warranty on the repair. They recommend using RED BRICKs or REDVOLTs only.

So now, I'm reconsidering the way I'll be powering my Scarlet. Based on this information from RED, if you were just starting out with batteries, would you go with a third-party V-mount system, a RED BRICK system or just use REDVOLTs? And a follow-up question to that, has anyone had any experiences with third-party batteries damaging a RED camera?

3rd party batteries voids the warranty? Is this new? I was planning on getting some Globalmediapro batteries myself because they're less expensive, but this has me concerned. Can someone from Red confirm this publicly right here? Are there any 3rd party batteries that won't void the warranty?

Okay so it says the warranty is void if the 3rd party battery causes the damage. That makes sense I guess. Has anyone come across that type of situation? It seems there's plenty of people using 3rd party batteries, so I imagine it's not an issue to be concerned about.
