Has anybody tried to recover both the soft and the hard side of the 42x42 reflectors? Norms, Americam Grip and Matthews all offer both materials for the DIYer, or offer the recover service. Someone at Matthews said that it was not easy, especially the soft side where you need to glue down and flatten 64 gold or silver leaf pieces. I tried looking for online instructions or a video and came up empty. None of those three offer instructiions for the people buying the materials. I guess you are just supposed to inately know (or perhaps its a way to push their services).

I've got 4 reflectors that all need total refurbishment. Unfortunately, I am on the East Coast, so shipping to any of those three in LA will not be cheap. Looking for opinions on DIY feasibility (I am pretty handy), as well as any other options

On the other hand, is there anyone else on the East Coast in the same shipping predicament. The materials are sold in quantities with more than enough to do 7 recovers (soft side) per color or 12 recovers (hard side) per color Or perhaps, someone already offers this service on the East Coast.

    Thanks

I am on the East Coast, but I send mine to a guy in California that does great work with these things. Its not as bad as you think. I usually couple my order with some other silks or green screen/blue screen material (he also makes them too) and it helps justify some of the expense.

Jason, care to share your guy's contact info?

Shipping is about $250 round trip.
