What is the full functionality of the Redmote? I was thinking about ordering one because I want to avoid the price increase but do I need it is what I am trying to figure out.

You can control your camera settings with it a well as triggering the camera on and of at a certain distance. This i great for, for example, time-lapse, cranes, steadicam triggering, etc. It can even control iris and other lens settings. I'm not sure if it can control focus at this stage, or if its going to be an exclusive feature of the mentioned "pro" version. Have to say I ordered the red mote.

Do you want an awesome wireless connection to control almost all features of the camera? Get it..

    If not,don't.

Also be aware it's not 100% reliable at the moment, so you will likely get mad at it for not connecting at some point or another.. RED is working on making it more reliable though!

Can it control focus? That would be fantastic. There is a "Pro" version in the works?

Manual focus control has been hinted at but never really promised for the Redmote as far as I can remember, but the Pro, after apparently suffering a setback, started from scratch a 2nd time late-summer/early-fall and not much has been said about it since. Disappointing. I was really looking forward to this functionality. If RED delivers as promised, it really enhances the whole Epic package.

I'm waiting for the pro version. I would mainly use it for focus control and it just makes more sense to pick the one with a FF-wheel on it.

The Redmote seems like the single most useful item for camera control. If it weren't for the price increase making me get the side handle I would rather just use a Redmote.

Shouldn't we all be conditioned to deal with wireless issues in our normal lives? Wifi issues, cell phone issues, TV remote control issues, seems to me that any Redmote dropout issues would be SOP for anything wireless now adays.

I wonder if there will be an option to return you Redmote for an upgrade to the Pro version? I would be interested in upgrading if it allowed for follow focus.

If it had a FF wheel I would have bought 2 of them. If it had a FF wheel and built in monitor? I would have been totaly siked!!!!!!!!!!

As is -- I see it as unneeded. I am not doing crane shots tho.....
