I used some manfrotto low profile quick releases and x stuff as well. Just got finished shooting a music video with this setup. Worked great. Very solid. If you are on a budget this is a pretty solid way to go :)

Nice Will. How long is that LCD to camera cable? Is it from Red? I need to get mine further away from the body too!
Looks great Will. Thanks for sharing.
Which Manfrotto QR's did you use specifically?
Is that shoulder pad Redrock?
On a tight budget also, so would love a little bit more of a detailed breakdown if yo can spare 5 minutes.
Been concerned about the cable length for best LCD placement also...

Nice simple rig with available parts. Sadly, the RRM shoulder mount is incredibly uncomfortable. Not only that, but it's narrow, and allows for a LOT of wobble if your camera doesn't have a super-low center of gravity.
I sure hope that's a RRS quick release plate mounting the camera to the rods!
Shoulder pad is Red Rock. I wouldn't agree with Trevor that is incredibly uncomfortable... but I have used more comfortable shoulder supports :) Haven't had any problems with wobble.
Tha quick release is Manfrotto http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...ile_Quick.html Super cheap and solid as a rock.
Cheers Will, much appreciated.

I have the same RR Rig. I found that using a mono pod (not extended) works very well to stabilize the camera. It is also very comfortable.
Will,
That's a pretty clever rig you've built up, thanks for sharing! Do you find you need counter weight in the back? Or is the center of gravity just right because of the shape of the Scarlet?
