...$11,575 for the camera FOB out of LA,PLUS $1148 GST? My high school math sez that alone is $12,720+ duty + air chges...
So maybe Her Majesty's Customs cut you a bit of a deal?

There's no duty due to free trade agreement between US and Australia, just GST which, if you are running a business, would be acounted as input credit

ah that's why there's no duty, thanks Pawel. They didn't make this easy to find on the Customs website though....

Actually the duty applicable relates to the type of item. Even with free trade many items imported incur a duty. Pro camera gear doesnt currently incur a duty. Lets all hope some pen pusher up there doesnt feel a need to change that legislation any time soon.

The GST, in this instance, from a business point of view is lame. We pay out 10% then 3 months later you get it back, sort of.

I'm assuming the final figure is in Australian dollars which are currently worth more than the US dollar so that should account for the lower than expected price.

Stu that is the for the total package PLUS GST shipping etc etc... This is a thread so people know what the GST, DUTY S&H etc cost on my package.

Unfortunately Josh, the 11 K plus math differential of Stu's was not an exchange rate bonus :))
But ahhhhh, for scarlets to have been released a couple of years ago.

The only exchange rate differential your seeing reflected above is about $9 worth of GST savings on the order total.

Got Lcd and some other accessories recently (located in Norway). Shipping was around $400 and no handling fee. VAT is a bitch though, 25% over here...
