What pro stores do you recommended in LA that let you try their lens on your epic camera?

I'm on the look out for a set of close to cinema lenses- I can't really afford real cine lenses.. the cheapest cp2's are too slow, the new CP2 speeds are too expensive, so I have been looking at rehoused zfs.
sure they will breath a little, but this is a reasonably small issue with me.

    so i have found these-

    http://store.pstechnik.de/all-produc...igital-lenses/

has anyone got any information on these? PS technic is a quality brand as far as I know.

    http://www.lockcircle.com/primecircle_xt_lenses/

and there are these- Look pretty good, but again, I can't really find any real information on them.

and from china (i think) the lens on the left below-

but these are too close a rip off of cp2s- when they really don't need to be- they could have just been bold and made their own design- and it would be a great solution. I find it funny that they think a "CP2" looking mod is somehow more desirable... but even if these are good- i couldn't see my investment in lenses keeping its value like the prime-circle or ps-tecknic.

has anyone here see or used any of these?

    cheers paul

The glass in the CP.2 is the same as in the ZF lenses.

If you are on that tight a budget look in the for sale forum, there are ZF lenses with Duclos cine mods for sale. Save some money and but a good used set.

Not correct. I believe there was already some discussion about this either in this thread or another one on REDUSER. They're similar, but not "the same" at all.

Most cine lenses will have a similar "look" to them - not sure what makes those a "ripoff" of the CP.2s but okay... (god I love that Emoticon!)

In all seriousness though, I do love my CP.2s and while I don't know much about the Prime Circle lenses, I do recall hearing good things about them.

As far as RPP vs CP.2 goes, the CP.2's are MUCH lighter which makes a huge difference both for on-set and travel.

...But i do feel the RPPs are MUCH better optically. (Except maybe the 100mm. Not because the RPP is bad, but the Zeiss makro is spectacular.)

On a "traditional" film set, the RPP weight doesn't matter. For mobile/guerilla style, I'll use a lightweight zoom.

Trevor, are you sure? I've read and heard time and time again that glass on the ZF.2's is identical to the glass on the CP.2's. Optically they are the same.
