    No the glass is the same! I have this straight from Zeiss. Produced in the Cosina plant in Japan, then hand selected and shipped to Germany for assembly into the CP.2 housings.

    The Prime Circe lenses are just ZF lenses with focus gears and hard fronts installed.

    Those Cinematics CT.2 are just ZF lenses with slipcover housings to make them look like CP.2 lenses, held in place with set screws.

    The P+S Technik ZF rehoused lenses I demoed had the original Nikon mounts and the focus felt very stiff compared to a Normal lens.

    yeah, i realise this. but the mods make the lenses far more usable than ZFs and they are far cheaper than CP2s or any real cine lens. the PS and prime circle look a fair bit nicer mod than duclos do- they have a large standard from front diameter as well.

    my problem with CP2s after testing them- they are far too slow. maybe the cp2 speeds will be better , but they are expensive.

    im not a big fan of the way the zfs "blur" but they seem like the best of an affordable bunch. i would love the look of some cookes, that snap "out of focus"- smooth, but sharp. But there is only one lens i think does close to this - the canon ef 85mm f1.2 , but its only one lens and its a pain in the ass to use.

    What do they say about focus-ring rotation? Having 32pitch gears is all fine and good for follow focus, but I fear without some kind of standardized rotation a focus puller would still have a rough time. Breathing doesn't really bother me, but anything that needlessly hinders an a focus puller's job will ultimately bother me. That is to say, quality aside, I'd dislike paying a premium for glass that is still hard to use (compared to industry standards)... especially with lenses as fast as t1.5... But damn, do I love t1.5/f1.4...

    Samyang/Rokinon lenses are sharp but I would call the look clinical some may even call them soulless. But what can you expect for the price of a very slow L lens, you can own a suite of fast Samyangs.

    So in my book anyway, you're not really paying a premium for these lenses. In fact its pretty hard to argue against owning a set for the dollars & the speed.....and now even harder with de-clicked aperture & focus ring.

    I meant a premium compared to the regular Samyang prices... Which, admittedly, are incredibly cheap.

    Depending on the country it's released in the lenses go by the name Rokinon...Bower...or Samyang.
    Duclos did his cine-mod on a Bower 35mm 1.4 and did a write-up and comparison of it to a Zeiss 35mm 1.4.
    I wish I could say the Zeiss blows the Bower out of the water. But the truth is, if I was looking for a high speed, budget 35mm, the Bower is a great option and really makes one wonder why the Zeiss is so much more expensive.

    In Europe they're sold under Walimex. Also, Rokinon, Polar, Vivitar, Bower, Falcon, Pro-Optic and Opteka, among others.

    The Nikon mounts rotate the Nikon way. That isn't a problem if you're mixing with other Nikon lenses like Nikon zooms and Tokina 11-16mm for Nikon.

    The Canon mounts rotate the Canon/cine way.

    So far the 24mm and 35mm cine are the same size diameter in front ~83mm for a 77mm filter thread.

    The 8mm and 14mm are not, but then again they are so wide you can't use a matte box with them. You have to use the petal hood. The 8mm has 180 degree FOV!

    The next one that will be released is the 85mm, then hopefully they'll have the 50mm done by then.
