So the title pretty much says it all. I swear that someone from RED said that when a v-mount battery is pulled, or the AC power is disconnected, if you have a redvolt in the side handle that it's supposed to switch to that on the fly to the redvolt and allowing for hot swapping of v-mount batteries. However, when I tried yanking the v-mount battery on the Epic-X this morning (Build 2.0.5), the camera just shut down and then restarted on the redvolts. Was wondering if anyone else had luck with the camera switching power sources on the fly, or if that is a feature still in the works?

Same with me on 2.0.5. Can anyone confirm what about 2.0.2?

Yes. I do this all the time. File a support ticket.

I do it all the time too.

    It's an amazing feature.

What type of battery are you using?

    I hope it's a smart V-Mount battery.

I have both the RED Bricks and third party v-mounts and they both do the same thing. In fact, the "same thing" is not always the same thing,. Sometimes when you yank the v-mount, the camera reboots automatically and yaps about improper shutdown. Othertimes it just stays off.

What build are you on? Maybe it's a 2.0.5 build issue?

I posted this back about a month ago... This is the exact same thing that happens to me. I am on 2.0.5 as well. Glad to know I'm not alone.

I can confirm this on my camera, FW 2.0.2 and 2.0.5. I'm trying to debug the problem with Red now. I originally noticed it with a Red Brick (ViewFactor plate), but got the same behavior with the Red AC adapter. I've only gotten it to correctly fail-over to a RedVolt in the handle one time. Oddly, it will switch back from RedVolt to external seamlessly, and it will also fail-over to RedVolt seamlessly as long as the Brick is dying naturally, rather than being pulled. (Only tested this latter scenario once.)

Really hoping for a fix for this, as not having to power down the camera is/was one of my favorite features.

For reference, I'm linking in Kyle's thread here: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthr...ower-switching

Hopefully, other people will chime in if they're seeing this behavior, and Red will get it licked.

What are you guys using to mount your batteries? I've got the Viewfactor IDX plate, but as mentioned I was also getting it with the Red AC adapter (i.e. straight to the wall, no battery). Sounds like Kyle was using Anton Bauer - presumably via AB's plate.

Yeah, I am using AB's on an gold mount with a RED One to Epic adapter cable. I am using propac 14 and Hytron 140's.

I get to nervous to try it out anymore (gives me the chills anytime something resets itself like that).
