This happened to me intermittently, using red bricks and a battery plate from my R1 package (using 1B-to-2B cable). It occasionally happened even when the brick hadn't been pulled, but knocked/bumped. I attributed the problem to a bad plate or brick connection, but it did cause me to hesitate every time I had to do a battery swap. And yet sometimes it works as it should, camera doesn't skip a beat.
Between the great things we cannot do and the small things we will not do, the danger is that we shall do nothing.

Camera also reboots on new beta build 2.0.8 when RED brick is pulled from v-mount or AC adaptor is pulled. I'll try on my second Epic-X to see if it also has the same issue.

Yeah, I am using AB's on an gold mount with a RED One to Epic adapter cable. I am using propac 14 and Hytron 140's.

I get to nervous to try it out anymore (gives me the chills anytime something resets itself like that).

Some times it works and some times it doesnt. I'm worried about doing it as I get an improper shut down warning when it doesn't work. The main reason I have the side handle is for hot swapping.

I imagine this also happens with a Scarlet-X? I can't test it since I don't have the DSMC side handle yet. Anyone?

To update folks watching this thread: Good news is I've gotten a couple more confirmations of this behavior, so we're definitely not alone. Bad news is Red wasn't able to diagnose the problem via log files, so they've asked me to send my camera & DSMC side handle in. Unfortunately, I can't afford the down time just yet, so it'll be a little while until I can do that. But I'll update this thread after I do.

And if anyone else has some time to spare, you might consider starting a support ticket. I don't know whether Red's been able to reproduce the behavior on their end, so I don't know if they're actively working on it, outside of my case.

Here's hoping it turns out to be a firmware fix.

Mitch, please do update the thread. I'd like to know if the problem is fixable.
I've had it since I got my Epic-M back in May.
I wonder what percentage of cameras actually hot-swap properly.

I believe that only applies to batteries, media, etc. I believe stuff that is a component has a 1 year warranty.

But I will go ahead and file a ticket.

I am also having this problem on both our Epic X's. Quite annoying since this is quite the awesome feature to have around. Does anyone have some sort of solution to this?

I am using RedVolts in the side handle and red bricks on a Red Backpack plate. Also running 2.0.8 firmware.
