Hi Rob, yep that's correct.
Actually you can use 8bit images (jpg for example if they work) as the colour patches used are all based on 8 bit numbers originally, but for export LightSpace CMS uses 10bit dpx as it's the most common file format for grading systems.
The most important part is colour accuracy, and the grading system being able to playback real-time accurately.
Thank you all for your help!
The next thing we are trying is to use a DPX sequence with a smaller resolution.
Hopefully that will work out fine...
A quick update to say we have added smaller patch size export from LightSpace CMS for DIP mode profiling, and also you can now download a selection EDLs from the Light Illusion Website that will automatically build the correct time-line on Resolve, FCP, etc, for accurate profiling.
Hope this helps!
Steve
I am having similar problems with i1pro, DaVinci and LightSpace... Few times I have started calibration (EDL in Resolve) and it all went OK for first hour, latter after 10h it was out of sync, and as far as I remember it it was the LightSpace in lack, DaVinci was still going on realtime. So the problem is in probe (as far as I get it from manual). I have tried 3s, 5s, 8s,... I think is just the problem in 1iPro, it just need time to measure. Am I right?
Hi Jake, you're correct, which is why it says 'etc'... The concept works with any edl capable system, although systems such as Scratch, Mistika, use direct plug-in connections so don't require the edl.
Teo, the problem you are having is the probe is reading slow, so you will need a longer duration edl - 10 or 12 seconds.
This is explained within the DIP mode descriptions on the Light Illusion website.
