Fellow redusers, I love my FinalCut and I also like - but not used to full extent yet - FCPX

But what I really miss in it, is the support for the R3D format. Now Jim and/or Jarred mentioned that we should talk to Apple about this one.

What I (and as it seems, RED staff, too) find pretty sad is that from the great RED/Apple cooperation in the beginning of the RED days, there seems not much left!?
How can we get our R3D into FCPX? make a petition or grab the torches and pitchforks to visit Tim Cooke? :)

Any idea on how to accomplish that? I like the deal on FCPX and I like that they are trying something new... would hate to see it go away.
and for some reason, I never really warm up towards Adobe... ;) although some of their work is pretty great.

    How do we do this!?

    Patrick

Go to the FCP feedback page.

    Fill in you details

Tell them you want FCP x to support r3d

    Here
    Is what I sent them

    Dear apple,

Please support native r3d camera files from RED cameras in a future release of final cut pro ten.

As a RED camera owner and user of Final Cut Pro ten this feature would help me access images from a high end camera system.

R3D support in FCP 7 was great. Can you do it in FCP X please.

    Thanks.

    But heck

The next Redcine X should accept FCPXML format for FCP X.
    Davinci resolve does it.

It would go a long way to smoothing out workflows. I think FCP X is picking up some steam. More people are starting to see how smart the software is.

It would be good for rcxp to at least be able to read XMLs from FCPX.

so you think for a fluid workflow that would be sufficient in keeping the possibility to "link" to the original R3Ds?

More options = better for everyone

    better for Apple
    better for users
    better for RED
less headaches trying to post RED footage (with the newest Apple NLE)

Id love to move my edit between FCPX RCXP and back.
