Man, at the very least 16G's sounds nice. "Lighting" seems to bode well also....

As usual it depends on the speed of the 16GB card (it's unspecified on that website). If I remember correctly CF cards have to be able to write at least 45MB/sec to record 4K RedCode RAW and just because they "say" they do doesn't mean they really do (which is why Red are strenuously advising owners to buy their Red-certified CF cards). I'm guessing they're individually testing Red-certified cards before they ship to check whether they hold up or else they have a very trusted supplier they can rely on.

I read Jim post recently that one could buy a 16Gb card if one wanted longer record times.

Since RED isn't selling 16's now, I'm guessing that there are other cards out there, that WILL work. If there's a decent return policy from a reliable vendor, someone out there I'm sure will test other cards soon. (I'll be glad to do that in March when we have our 2 RED's).

The RiData Cards don't look like they will work. 300x is the minimum?

I might be wrong but I don't think there are any 16GB CF cards on the market right now that are fast enough for 4K RedCode RAW - I think Jim may have been referring to either shooting in 2K (for which you can use cards currently on the market with lower write speeds and get longer record times) or else he meant "in the near future" (i.e. 16GB CF cards with high enough write speeds will be released in the next few months if you can wait that long).
