Has Red ever mentioned a Pre-Record option, where you can set a certain amount of time, say 5 seconds, and when you press record, that clip actually starts 5 seconds earlier, it would be great for saving footage space when doing doc work as well as making sure you don't miss the shot"

I think a lot of the cameras that do this do so with a hardware buffer not via firmware so I don't know if this can be incorporated into the scarlet with the hardware thats already in existence.

I would think that there is a substantial buffer already built into the camera already. So, I'd think this to be possible. Just a guess, of course.
