While I wait for delivery of a scarlet, I am keeping busy getting all the gear together for it.
As I can not hire Jibs or dollys where I live, I am wondering what is the best Jib for a scarlet.
So far, my list looks something like this :-

    1. http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/100016.htm ( about $500 ) which seems to be popular here.

    2. http://www.porta-jib.com/explorer.html ( about $1,800 ) which looks strong and has a nice web site and videos.

    3. http://www.varizoom.com/product.aspx...gory=QuickJibs ( about $1,200 ) and also seems strong from their pics.

    4. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PROAIM-12...ht_8238wt_1156 for about $350, which is probably the cheapest.

Seems to me underslung is the most versatile on these Jobs, but I just wonder how smooth I can get the start and stop of any movement with such light weight jibs.
Of course I can always edit out the start and stop frames if they are bumpy, but I like the idea of being able to stay with the subject before or after a move.

Thanks for any good ideas on this.

I haven't really used any of them on any shoots, but I hear many good things about Kessler. I got to check them out at NAB and they seemed pretty solid, I think I'm going to look into buying one from Kessler in the next few months.

I've used my Standard Porta-Jib for 10 years now. It works beautifully every time. I use my heavier R1 and F900/HDX-900 cameras on it. It's counterweighted design keeps it stable at any camera elevation. Can't say enough good things about the Standard version.

The more robust the better to shoot with, the lighter once are nice when not shooting like in the back of a truck...

We use the most solid one of them all... : http://www.syndicate.se/Default.aspx?Id=108

I'm a huge fan of my Libec. Quick setup and super smooth.

Another vote for the Standard Porta-Jib. Tough and easy to assemble and use!

seriously for Epic and Scarlet !

The inventor/owner John is an amazing person to deal with.
I had mine customized so it can be a short and quick setup (minutes)
or original pan and tilt hydraulic 10 feet, one person operator setup.
Love that thing and it's price:)

They need to put higher quality videos hosted though Vimeo or at least YouTube on their site. Those tiny, low quality quicktimes are not cutting it.
