    Hi!

    Does the x A-Box supply 48v phantom power? I couldn't tell.

Is there a better way to run XLR into the Scarlet?

The A-Box will pass phantom power through - but it has to be enabled on the Scarlet for that to happen.

Okay good to know, thanks! I didn't realize that phantom power could be passed through the 1/8 front ports. You learn something new every day.

I think you're a lot better off using an outboard mixer.

The Neumann 81i is a very, very good microphone -- in fact, I'm pretty certain it costs more than a Scarlet ($1600). If you're going to put it on the camera, I think you're better off with a cheaper mike, and putting the Neumann much closer to the actors or interview subjects, on a boom.

I will use it in that configuration too, but I'm also using it as a run and gun microphone. It's just that with certain projects, it will be the shotgun mic and I won't be allowed to use booms.

Also thinking about getting the Neumann RSM 191-AS :)

Any feedback on the RSM? At that price point would it be wise to consider a Schoeps?
