Can anyone from Canada/Toronto tell me what to expect in terms of shipping expensenses/delays when entering the country (duties, are they class9 and if so what does that cost, do they stay at the border for days, etc.?):

PM if you don't want to share in the forum. Basically just want to know if a.) I'm gonna get slapped with a surprise $50 fee and/or b.) have to wait 6 weeks before they actually make it to my house.

Mike I can't tell you what you might encounter with Delays and Duties I had mine shipped to my Chicago address. I can however vouch for the batteries. I bought the basic ones so I don't get all the battery info displayed on the monitor .. just voltage.

    Hi Mike,

I bought 2 of these batteries and I just order 2 more here in Toronto. They are awesome and the price is well worth it. You will have to pay tax through Canada Post for the items. Tax is based on the province but here in Toronto it's HST 13%. I think it took 1 week the first time. It actually went through customs and delivered faster then when I ordered the Red Scarlet (because I used DHL with Red instead of Fed Ex...worst choice possible). Anyhow, there's no added cost and they were very good at getting the product out. I highly recommend them.

    Thanks Wil/Ted.

I actually phoned Customs and they said they reject batteries if shipped via regular mail (Canada Post)... I thought that was odd so I asked for clarification, but he was explicit that they don't mail batteries regardless of the whether they're class 9 or not... Then I phoned Canada Post, and they're like, "Yeah we ship as long as they're packaged properly with the terminals covered. Doesn't matter where they're from." So are they shipped as "batteries" or what? Also are they air mail or by ship/sea... I'm guessing air if it only took 1 week.

In either case, you put my mind at ease enough to order one.

Another question; does anyone have any photos of these batteries (GMP or Beillens) mounted on the back... Just trying to get a size reference (do they block the SSD at all)?

The ones I have (AB mount) are a bit larger than the scarlet but do not block anything.

Mike, you can ask injoycamera, the seller on ebay, they're very nice and respond quickly. You have several options for shipping, they'll tell you exactly, which ones to your country. I've ordered 3 of those so far, it's enough for a regular 12 hours day.

Hmm, not sure but believed they were shipped as batteries. Canada Post opened my box fully. It was pretty straight forward. I just ordered 2 more batteries and it's on route. We'll see what happens.

I was inches away on pulling the trigger on the GMP batteries, leaning towards them due to the cost compared to REDBRICKS..
I found a user who had an instance who beleived the GMP battery was the cause for his Scarlet not powering up, and the RED said it voided the warranty when using other companies.

Maybe this has been resolved since than, or been made clear.. just wanted to share one of the reasons I just bit the bullet and paid a bit more for the REDBRICKS.
I'm sure whatever you purchase will work just fine.

Just checked. My shipment is currently in Vancouver (same as last time). It'll take a few days to clear and then be off.

I did speak to my Red rep and although he could not promote the use of the batteries, he did mentioned that all seemed fine. It works very well too (although like most non Red batteries, it won't show the % but simply a voltage).

The shipping company from China is:

    http://www.ems.com.cn/english.html

Although it doesn't really say this in the emails from ebay and paypal. The tracking number is what shows there.

Below is the tracking of my batteries. Keep ya posted.

    Wil
