True Marq, but according to the manual Scarlet is 50W not 30....

remember the camera and accessories pull more from the battery as voltage drops.

I concur with Enrique. A good formula to know is this...Take the total wH (Watt Hour) of the battery, e.g. 160wH and divide the total watt pull (requirement) of your device, in your case the Scarlet, which is approx 30w (160 wH / 30w = 5.3 hrs).
Keep in mind you should add any additional device tethered to the D-Tap.

    Hope this helps.

Just FYI, manual states when recording 4K/24FPS the unit will draw approx. 60W

I love it. I was out shooting with it the other day for about 4 hours and when I got home the battery was still at 80%. Obviously, the camera was not on this whole time (though close), but I was still really impressed. I plan to get one more of these.

Scarlet is 60watts. So more like 2.75 hours. But the camera starts up/shuts down so fast that I usually turn it off in between shots unless I'm on a stage in which case I can just run A/C.

I was hoping to get something local (as in, readily sold at equipment places or authorized dealers.) I really don't want to have to worry about things getting stopped at the border or not passing regulations for shippable batteries... Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone in Ontario know of any competitively priced batteries?

What do I really need to use the Global Media batteries with Scarlet?

This is my first Red and I have no idea. Can anyone please help me?

    Thanks!

You need a v-mount battery plate and some way to attach to the camera. I went the x route with their quick back and switronix plate. The switronix plate WILL transmit battery usage info to the Scarlet if you're using the GMP batteries designed for RED. Other plates won't. For their system u need the mount $320, the quick back $199 (can be used to mount other things) and a battery plate $79.

WC has those items on back order. Took under 2 weeks for me when I ordered on the 10th of Jan.

Just put in an order for a Li230S-R-Lithium-ion-Battery-230WH. Looking at the picture it looks little different than the redbrick at the connectors. I see two copper plates. To be sure, does this work with the VF batteriplate?
