Hi Joseph Hutson,
Siuki Yip is my real name from my passport, in chinese is 葉紹麒, hahahahaha
How about the extreme pro 32s? Can you give us the parameters (or a benchmark test) you use so we can test these ourselves. Some of us have a strong interest in cards larger than 16 even if we are limited only to the original REDCODE (RC28?) 4K 2:1 data rate. Also have some dual use desire i.e. REDONE and 5D/7D etc.
Would like to have some idea of what the real parameters are.
Also what are the actual specs on the RED 16GB and do these work in 5d/7d?
I have a SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro right now. Actually just got it yesterday. Haven't started any real testing.
Some quick file access tests show that read speed looks to be close to the 90MB/s claimed. Write speed is noticeably slower, like half as fast. But I haven't done any serious benchmarks yet.
Compatibility is an issue. The card doesn't work in any device I've tried, other than my FW800 and eSATA card readers. ...Kinda like the RED 16GB cards.
Tested these ones already.. dropped frames. Weird controller in the cards indeed that probably still needs some work. I was hoping the Photofast would be fast enough as well but they are half the speed as the Sandisk ones.
Hoping Lexar comes out with something new soon.... or we might need to make our own again when it comes time to increase size.
Bummer... Too bad. I had high hopes for these cards.
I haven't stuck the 64GB card into the RED yet, but it would be limited to 2K anyhow. This SanDisk card is probably getting sent back. It's not compatible with the D2x or D3x, so that kills the option of keeping it for use with the DSLRs here. The Nikons have a 32GB ceiling on their CF interface anyway.
