OK ok.... so what makes your SUPER REDMOTE work and all of ours not...?

    Whats the secret.??

RED TEAM... do we all send our RED MOTES back and get updated ones sent back to us. I have 2 brand new ones, and a EPIC M one... not one of them can get further than 8 foot.

What do we all do. IF Florian's can get 80feet and through walls... We need one of those please.

RF propagation can be rather dependant on antenna design when it comes to orientation. Some antenna designs may radiate primarily horizontally, or be much stronger in the direction eminating away from the camera as compared to it's location (eg- above the Epic, as the antenna is on top).

In addition to distance, comparative elevation can matter. If your Epic is up on a jib and you are below with your redmote, it might not have nearly as stong a signal.

Were those few cases where it seems great distances were achieved in any specific orientation? Was the redomote location slightly ABOVE the camera elevation, and thus with clear line-of-sight between the redmote and the top of the camera where it's antenna was located?

Do anyone think it could be the added aluminum top plate that could be causing interference with the REDmote? I didn't buy a top plate yet for my camera and I don't have signal problems with my REDmote when it comes to range.

Perhaps RED should sell an external antenna we can mount somewhere...

Yes I agree, Red are great at fixing issues. Its all about letting them know so they are aware of the issue at hand and judging from this thread and the other Bomb EVF thread, they are not aware of the issues people are having and as such have not commented on a fix coming.

I can't stress enough how important the RedMote is to my setup. I don't want to TouchLCD nor do I want the Side Handle and after all the RedMote is designed to be the interface for the camera so it should work... guaranteed. So you can trust it in a professional environment.

How many more people have to complain before Red take notice?

A wired connection to the Epic/Scarlet would also be an option for people who need 100% reliable REDmote usage.

the issue I see with a wired connection are:

    1) the RedMote is made to be a remote
    2) where on the camera do you connect a wired connection.
    3) Tactical Cage wouldn't be able to be used as it would be in the way of the side handle ports.
    4) x Quick Back or Red's BackPack system won't be able to be used as they cover up the back ports of the camera.
