This looks fantastic. I have tons of prep work to do for my first feature, but hopefully I can get something completed in time to enter it into this as well.
I'm in!
What are the specific usage rights to RED beyond the showing at the NAB competition?
I'm in! (As long as my Scarlet gets here soon, that is!) Very excited about this one, conjuring up ideas with my crew now!
I get a lot of stuff from here. 40 bucks a track is tough to beat.
So I assume "No dialogue" also prohibits a voiceover, then?
Similarly any titles or printed word based ideas or messages alowed?
It seems unlikely I will be able to submit anything worthy in time, but I’m guessing the ‘portrait” idea might also explore the DCSMC concept and to blur the line between stills and motion, and Adobe Premiere being the glue to make that all happen.
Random thoughts:
Given that we are all 4k now I keep wracking my brains for accessible subjects that really need that high res 4k rendering and texture to tell an interesting visual story that doesn’t look like a TV advertisement or a welcome to New Mexico “pitch” that you might see on screens at the airport.
I am reminded of La Jetee (Cine-roman) by Chris Marker as to the power of stills to tell a cinematic story hence the DSMC concept, and secretly hoping that something shot on scarlet_X will win.
I am (slightly) wary that the wining entrant might look a lot like Clint Eastwood “half time” piece during the superbowl as a sort of “portrait” of a nation.
The “occupy” movement might be good subject…
The opportunity to tell a purely visual story is indeed a golden one.
Time to think outside the box.. waaaaay outside the box.
