a thick black rubber band or other stretchable material around the lens can help you snug the lens up to the matte box and reduce light leaks.

Let the material stretch over the end of the lens to get a mm or 2 smaller diameter that may then fit inside the mattebox. Check the wide shot for any frame encroachment.

Scott thanks! But I think I did not word it correctly, what I meant to say is that the lens won't go into the matte box. It barely fits. It's as if I were to take a sand paper and gently sand the edges of the lens fitting on the box, it could actually fit. Jay, I have a redrock matte box. It's been REALLY great but this is the first time I've encountered something like this.

Also, what kind of lens support would you suggest?

No worries, a wide (and thick) rubber band stretched over the end of the lens will create a slightly smaller rubber diameter due the the rubberband stretching over the lip of the lens. its kind of a large and wide specialty rubberband but can be found at most office supply stores. Getting the right size rubber band is the key. it can be enough to allow the rubber to fit within the mattebox diameter and block light for those close cases. Not a perfect solution but quick and effective.
