I know that HDMI and HD-SDI will be activated in a future builds for Epic. I have a SmallHD HDMI version and I want to use it for 1AC and SDI for a video village. My problem is that I'm forced to buy Tv-logic with SDI pass-thru, where it will be used for 1AC and a video village at the same time. I'm quite happy with my SmallHD HDMI and basically, I don't want to spend $1500 for Tv-logic, especially when HDMI&HD-SDI build is near the corner.
RED, I know that you cannot give specific dates about when it will be activated, but at least could you let us know how high is that option in a list of priorities?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

Hi, I'd be interested in that answer too :)
Any idea how far this update is ? Just to help us plan if we need to buy HDSDI-HDMI converters or not... Thanks !

I don't think that you will ever be able to use both hdmi and sdi without the, as yet unreleased, pro i/o module. Small HD will upgrade your monitor to sdi for a few hundred dollars and this may be the easiest and cheapest way to get what you want.

i know about dp6 upgrade. That is the point: why should I upgrade dp6 if the Epic's firmware update is around the corner? That what I want to know from RED.

in my opinion.. its a little ridiculous having to spend that much money on something and parts of it not even working... You would never see that from Panasonic, Sony, JVC, Canon... should I continue?

On behalf of all of us who are enjoying shooting with the Epic despite its incomplete feature set, please stop scolding RED for the functions as yet unavailable.

If you want a buttoned up camera package that fits in neatly with commodity aks get a Panasonic or Sony. If you want better IQ and more creative opportunities, ride the RED wave.

If you choose RED, cowboy up and stop whining. The OP politely asked for a forecast on the enabling of a feature that might fit better with their working style and allow them to use lower cost aks. Fair enough. Its the piling on that galls me. The Epic and Scarlet are works in progress, RED has been completely up front about that. Chill.

    1. Reread 1st post, no one is whining.
    2. I fully believe in RED, not Sony/Panasonic, etc. and I'm ok that Epic is still in progress and I do enjoy it.
    3. If you are in a middle of making a decision, it never hurts to ask.

    Thanks Paul!

Page 13 on the manual needs to be changed... "In its default configuration, the RED EPIC camera can simultaneously support one VIEWFINDER output (suitable for use by a BOMB EVF®, or RED LCD) plus one HD-SDI based PROGRAM output and one HDMI based PREVIEW output. Each output can support a set of overlay graphics including camera GUI, timecode, clip name and framing guides; the specific overlay graphics for each type of output is user configurable."
