Wouldn't you agree?A lot of the Python “crew” were pretty amazing on the whole (actually a lot more humor off set or never made it into the production), but the one that we absolutely loved to bits was Terry Jones. Very warm and very insightful guy… Absolutely love his history documentaries (specializing in the Medieval period) he has done since, and I really love his mathematical documentary story of 1. Wayne I think you would really dig “Story of 1”, check it out.
The Python guys definitely had talent. One of my friends locally went to college with them, and knew John Petrie, friends with the guys from the goodies (now that was comedy) and even Billy Collony, grandson of the admiral in charge of Gallipoly for a while, a lord's son, you could see that energy in him, a real pain in the ass. Another of my friends used to be a famous English entertainer in the 50's, real Carry on type of humor (another pain in the ass, but lovable popular guy, but funny as), was on international news a few years ago for saying ho, ho). I'm a different type, that is why I am interested in doing comedy productions, apart from documentaries and science fiction. One of my friends, is also an up and coming comedian, so you never know what I might be able to get done,
About the UK, yes you can really dress up your characters in that weather, NZ offers similar advantages. I have thought about how good it would be to film in Tasmania. Maybe you should start a company in the UK. Would love to to live there myself, being meaning to contact Sir Clive again for years.

Yes, Brazil was an interesting film, long time ago, was it a sort of 1984 anti type? Baron Munchausen was definitely something, can't remember it too well, but funny from memory.What was interesting with the first two python movies is that things were shot in a very hand held way… the Meaning of Life was their first big budget “studio” picture. Terry Gilliam also got to go on a bit of rampage which later reached a more complete expression in Baron Munchausen (one of the most expensive pictures ever made at that time or a really massive budget overrun… oooops…); Brazil is still I think one of his greatest masterpieces.
Yes, I agree, that was going to be my point to, except for stunts, special effects and sets, comedies can be done rather cheaply. Given a sub $5k Scarlet camera in particular, small groups can afford to make things that can be transferred straight to screen if good, by passing iTunes and video stores. This may lead to alot of new talent cropping up, and also become a ready staple for theaters in the coming online streaming world, locking the good stuff into an exclusive cinema release before it hits iTunes etc. You see guys, there are many ways to slice a profitable cake.Like RED many fantastic ventures and groups start out small and keep going, and go from strength to strength. Passion and Persistence in equal measure is the key to all of this. Many young groups and film makers will be starting out with Scarlet-X and in a few years perhaps in some cases will be doing major things. It seems RED will be here for the long haul to see through some amazing things unfold and make all these things possible AND accessible.
