Ok ok, I can't help myself. Yes I like to push the RED boys for more useable tools.. so here goes.

RED ROCKET MOBILE: Who wants one. (Manufactured by RED)

Multiple Thunder Bolt, SADA, FIREWIRE ports or any pipe thats quick.
DVI-HDSI-HDMI & Thunder Bolt outputs for monitor viewing.

Since we all have know Fricken idea what APPLE are doing with the MAC TOWERS, and with MAC BOOK PRO's being super powerful these days and best of all, portable.. A RED ROCKET MOBILE like this with SSD CARD reader would be a major asset for a majority of us working on the ROAD or in home offices or small POST HOUSES.
We can backup and transcode all at the same time... Playback on set, grade on set all in realtime. All without dragging a Bloody TOWER around the world.

Transcoding RAW to DPX, PRO RES, DNxHD, Tiff, etc.. is the biggest and slowest hurdle in RED WORKFLOW without a RED ROCKET.. Smooth this part out with a small affordable portable system that can fit in your computer bag and RED just got way faster and easier !!! .

For example... I shot 6 hours of data. Laptop transcode to 4444 PRO RES HD (NO RED ROCKET) 38 hours... !!!!
Talk about do my head in... I could get film back from the lab in 12 hours. YES! thats right.
RED ROCKET Transcode for the same amount is 6.8 hours...! If I had one in that city I ws working in.
I just can't be dragging around a TOWER everywhere. A RED ROCKET mobile would save every project and make on set viewing and transcoding a dream come through.

People power will hopefully push RED to make one of these. VOTE with your posts guys, RED LISTEN.

+ THE 4k PRO RES / DNxHD MODULE is still on my RADAR - Especially with REDGAMMA 3 coming out.

Already posted alot about this idea, red should really make this, exactly as you say, i dont have the space to drag along a big pci card, would aboslutley love this, +100.

And the prores module should just also be 1920x1080, not only 4K.

I used too do that... But Always something would jiggle out of alignment, RAM would falter... something stupid would play up with it then give us hell for the next few days.. TOWERS are so not made to travel.
I did a shoot in the US a year ago and the DIT had a cart with big soft tires on it and I watched the towers jiggling away as he pushed it down the road... I used to cringe..
He had a great setup.. but you were always waiting for the poor guy. I imagine if he had one of those RED ROCKET Mobiles on his trolley... he would have so much more room on it. So much easier.

    Good Luck Webster.

This is why I only mount my towers in a shock mount flight case. They're worth the extra cabbage, but they are a bit bulky.

Geez Mark. With 4 EPICS, you'd be getting up there to hero status on RED alerts wouldn't you? Great idea. I'd buy one.
