The RedMote does indeed kick ass. So does the side handle and I find myself more attached to that during long days zipping around the menus. For programming and what not I used the RedMote.

A question for Jarred, you may or may not be allowed to answer this. Will the wifi in-camera be able to send signal to say an Ipad for streaming once the proxy module is ready? Or will that be an option for the Proxy module? :0)

    Andrew,

Keep up the hard work can't speak for the young guns we have on Reduser but just being able to follow the careers of Joseph H., Tony A., and Brian I. and the many others young filmmakers, cinematographers, DPs, ACs RED looks forward to being able to provide you tools and support your craft.

I think it can argued that RED has already reached that status - especially with this announcement.

I'm currently in college and there's no way I can afford a RED, but that's why I'm working hard in school now so that one day I can have a successful career and not only provide for my family, but also experience the other joys of life like owning a RED :-) 10 years is just soooo far away... maybe I'll at least have the joy of shooting with one before then

Anyways, gotta get back to the studies, congratulations to the RED team, and especially to our leaders Jim and Jarred!

    Man I love this company

    hey Jarred,
I have 3 very disappointing RED MOTES.... 3 to 8 feet max... The worst being from my EPIC M deal, and my two 3 month old ones are only slightly better. 8 feet....
Are you saying that firmware alone fixes the range issues ?
I'm going to do another test with them this week when I get back from shooting.

I'm just curious mate as I'd love to get these working properly. I just like the look of them... :)

What's my next course of action if they are all still low range.. Do i have to send the cameras and REDMOTES back? (hopefully not as they are busy as hell)

Looking forward to NAB by the way...

Sorry Mark... On M's you need the new antennas... part of the (free) upgrade process all Epic-M owners get that begins next month.

Hmmm. Was shooting outside with my M today and checked range of Redmote. I had soilid signal out to 40-50 feet. The problem I had from day one was a battery that would discharge while unit was off. It went dead in about two days. Red had me send it in, no problems after that. My X redmote has worked fine since its unboxing. All things Red take a bit of time to mature. I'm glad I'm old enough to have some patience. It took me a long time to develop that trait. Now where's my RedRay and 3D laser projector, eh?

We'll email you when we are ready to take it back, for sure. Like our other upgrades, we will have to do it in batches...
