That somewhat suggests that the base I/O could be back? Thought it was cancelled? But without audio this didn't seem to make too much sense anyway. But since I can't find any info on any of these anymore... Who cares ;) we'll just have to wait

Just received my Side Handle on Friday. 4 days after the Allocation email. Shipped by ground clear to the opposite end of the country.

It was the last piece I was waiting for.

APPARENTLY, and I didn't know this, but when you take a Scarlet out in public, a lot of people are gonna walk right up and ask what the hell it is. More surprisingly, a few people (in this case, High school students and an MIT professor) even go "...you have a SCARLET?!"

Gear from Red certainly makes an impression. I should just make my business card a picture of me, big dopey grin and giant thumbs up, standing behind my Scarlet.

You stock each location based on what you think demand will be for x period of time. If sales are higher or lower than forecasted, then one location may be in stock in one item while it is not in another due to relative inventory levels. In this case, RED EUROPE had higher than forecasted sales on an item so we would up being out of backorder quicker on shipments from US than RED EUROPE. The reverse has happened in the past on some items. That being said, when we recognize a big delta between locations, our supply chain team will go back to inventory and try to load balance to their best of their ability - and as quickly as they can. Obviously, a lot goes into that analysis and you don't want to rob Peter to pay Paul.

I appreciate your thorough explanation, Brent - and I totally understand it's a bitch to deal with different sales locations. But, the thing here is that I never opted to buy this mount from the UK. I ordered from the Red.com Store and was anticipating to be dealing directly with RED US because I knew RED in the UK could be a problem in terms of delivery of the Canon mount. I must admit I find it mildly offensive to read stuff like "yeah if you order today then you should have it in 2-3 weeks time" and then learn of others that ordered a mount a few weeks ago and already got it when I've had to wait for 3 and a half months and I'm still in the dark about mine.

No longer in the dark. Just got notice my mount is on its way. I'm psyched this nightmare is finally over and I can start shooting without having to borrow and rent lenses every time I need to shoot something - and rent my Epic to all of those requesting the Canon mount! ;-) This also means there's a real possibility I'll bring my Epic to NAB!
