So how about a SALT III, featuring old cine glass. For example, Baltars, Super Baltars, Cooke Panchro Series 2/3, Schneider Cine Xenons, Kinoptiks, Kowa Prominars, Lomos, old Angie and Cooke zooms. Or a SALT IV for old still glass like Canon FLs/FDs, Olympus. Minolta Rokkors, SMC Takumars, CZ Jena, etc... You know the good ole days when glass was still made with lead and radioactive isotopes.

I am totally into this! Some of the CZ Jena glass is great, and the Minolta Rokkors...some doozies there! The 24 2.8 they designed for Leica. The Rokkor 28 F2 is awesome, and of course the 58 1.2 Rokkor is extremely famous.

I agree. This could be awesome.

Ans obv it would have to include Nikkor AIS lenses too, they are great.

Love the old glass idea.... it seems the better optics get the more people are looking backwards for something different.

Again, many thanks for the great work!
I checked the Nikon clips on youtube, but saw none of the dreaded image shift. Image shift is serious to me, when I see the bad examples of it. But none of my nikkors have it, and they are not new. So I guess one could go the Nikon route, but be prepared to buy new lenses more often than you would for stills work...

Thanks for your work so far, Evin. Finish it and then catch your breath. But let me do you one better. Come to DC and conduct Salt III or IV here. There are plenty of Epics/Scarlet and old glass here. I think Nick Gardner has a set of K35s. I've got many of the others. I even have a projector.

Whew. Just wrote up and sent Evin my thoughts on the SALT II tests. Informative day and just a ton of information and notes to digest.
