  1. #1 Does it actually work?
Using Redcine-X, to me, is like trying to edit HD footage on a Commodore Amiga 1000.

It is SO buggy, to me, I'm ready to just give up.

So far (all 4K files at Redcode 28, 23.98fps):

After using the "viewer" to scrub through clips, maybe 3 or 4 different clips, it stops working - which means, it won't display a different clip (than the most recent one viewed) and it won't play the clip displayed.

I cannot batch export, instead, all the batched clips show up as nothing but full res blackness.

Even trying to export one clip at a time often results in a clip of full res blackness unless I restart the computer after each export.

Am I nuts, or just stupid, or is this common? Just wondering.

Yes Redcinex actually works. Can be a bit unstable at times so it never hurts to save in between tasks, but I use it a lot and it delivers. Are you on the latest build? Maybe it doesn't like your machine... As far as I can judge from here, I don't think you are stupid :)

I'm using a Dual Quad Core 3ghz Xeon with 7 GB of ram and Snow Leopard with build 506. I'm stumped.

It runs solid on my system. 12 Core, 48 GB Ram, Rocket card. We did one-lights on dozens of clips recently with no hangups. One thing... after some really annoying issues with Snow Leopard, I peeled it off the system and went back to 10.6.8. Are others having success with 10.7?

    Chris,

Please go to https://www.red.com/support/all/downloads, click the "Beta" tab and download the latest Pro version. The 500 series builds are out of date and no longer supported.

If you are still having issues after this, you can email redcinex at red dot com if you would like further support.

    Cheers,
    David

Maybe that should be made clear on Red.com?

At first glance it would appear that Redcine-X non-Pro v506 is the latest Release version, and therefore the one to use on a production.
Whereas, actually everyone should be using Redcine-X Pro now, but maybe not the very last build as it's still "beta"!!

I really like the floating windows of REDCINE X... can you get this into REDCINE PRO... Pleeeeease.... I like to slide the viewing window onto another screen, not squash it up in inbetween all my adjusting windows and batch etc...
Would be a big help. :)

+ 1. Floating windows that can be docked would be great.
