Anyone have a solution they really like for mounting their timecode box?

I'd prefer it to be on the side, but the Denecke SB-3 that I have doesn't have any mounting points, and I'd rather not mess up the body with velcro.

Any thoughts? Some kind of universal mount or arm?

    Thanks in advance.

I often run my cameras with an AB plate off a back rod. Here it is swung up for access to the redmote, but usually it just hangs down. There is room on the back of the plate (facing the redmote) for a sync box if those sound bastards insist on inflicting me with one.

"Sound Bastards," huh? Funny: when I'm on a shoot, I assume we're all on the same team, there to get the same job done, all there to help and support each other. There have been many times when I've gone out of my way to help the camera and grip crew, especially if they're a cable short, or I see a C-stand about to fall over, or somebody needs a hand carrying something out to the truck.

I assume you don't follow that philosophy. Sad.

Good heavens, of course I was joking. I'll use more signage next time. No one is a better friend to the sound department than me. And they need all the friends they can get.

    That is a custom 19mm "U" I had made.

You can do a similar thing with Berkey System parts (750 series spud block) and a short 19mm rod:

But it doesn't allow the back rod to go out very far, hence the one I had made.

These two x parts, mounted off the back of a top plate, could get you a similar thing cheaply:

But I like the one I had made because its tool-less on/off.

    Next time, try a smiley.

One good company that makes excellent mounts (screws or velcro) for various types of timecode boxes and wireless receivers is BEC:

Also, most camera rental houses and production sound rental firms have various kinds of mounts, clamps, and saddlebags for units like this. Some bolt to the side of the camera, some on the back of the battery pack, some on top... there's a lot of choices.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll be interested in seeing what the BEC Group has to offer when their site gets back up and running.
