if i would be in the prime buyers seat i would like to know if new better primes are around the corner.
its not like computers where you know there will be something better next week.
But possibly the new primes will be more expensive because of better
mechanics, then for the budget concious buyer its important to get them while he can.
As a fellow consumer I agree, I would want to know if something better were coming too, but advising people not to buy when you have stock in hand isn't good for the company. Besides, there is a new MO @ Red, "When it's ready, we'll tell you." We could be seeing that policy at work here. I'd count on it.

I do expect a new line of lenses will be more expensive, so as you say it might be important to get them now... Unless you are happy to pay more for the improvements/changes.

wow, thats nothing for a wideangle lens.
i will look for some videos re dissortion etc.
At 11-16 mm the AC should be able to pull focus with still glas mechanics (i guess its a rehoused still lens, because of the price) :))

You can get it in different mounts...
Only have shot with it in 4K (Scarlet's limitation). I am renting this lens for now - as they are on a massive backorder (5-6 months). When I have it next time - I will check the coverage in 5K

Not just rehoused - he has completely redone the mechanics - it really feels like a PRO cine zoom. Also de-clicked the iris. Matthew did a awesome job on this - which is why there is such long wait for one. He is also working on a 70-200. Can't wait...
Until then I am happy with my Canon "L" glass...

Yeah first I thought he meant they would be EOLd but since he went on about them being so successful this does not make sense really. So my best bet is that new ones could be coming that would be more expensive.

I would guess if there is no set price anymore, that's because maybe Red will propose to build our own ? With new focal lengths ?
With the long awaited extra RPP like 14, 21, 32, 40, 65, 135 and 180 you could build a very different 6 lenses set.

Would love to add a 14, 32 and a 65, but I don't see Red adding new Pro Primes, unfortunately...

Why not? Do you have some reasoning to support your theory, or is this based on your gut? As great as they seem to be there is certainly room for improvement. You don't think Red will improve them?

would be nice if someone from RED would drop us some hints...
I know a couple people, including myself, looking to make lens purchases in the near future.

IF there is something actually happening, my bet would be the added focal lengths, and a v2 type upgrade on the lens barrels to allow for mounting/unmounting of lens without adjusting follow focus.

Don't the existing RPP's only cover 5K max? Maybe something new coming out to cover 6K+?

I was selling my RPP's but I'm kinda wishy washy now.

Knowing my luck, the new RPP's will be f/1.3 and half the weight and price. lol
