RED PRO PRIMES due for imminent update?

I was more referring to the fact that just because there is a hole in the Red product lineup, doesn't mean that a new product will be released immediately to fill it.

I bought my last Drive in early February 2011 (after checking carefully to make sure it would work on EPIC/Scarlet(!) ). I'm certain that at that point the Drive page on the RED store was clearly stating 'limited stocks - last few remaining' or words to that effect.

100% Agree. I'm a RED fan boy, and this is something that the studio/production guys just laugh/grimace at me for (since my other hat is a finance guy, i'm sure they laugh at me after I'm out of the room though).

Can you imagine waking up one day, then not being able to buy a 50mm Panchro, CP.2 , or Arri master primes - without any comment from Arri or Zeiss or Cooke - it just wouldn't happen.

As I type this my brother and I are waiting on our front porch for the FedEx truck. Come on, RPPs! We decided that we love these lenses (both in terms of quality and value for money) and decided just to go with them even if they are being updated soon. The presence of newer lenses won't diminish for us how good these ones are. :)

A set plus an 18mm. We have a few EF zooms (24-70L, 70-200L, Tokina 11-16), but no other PL glass. The great irony is that we have had our Scarlet for nearly two months with a PL mount, but miscalculated when our Ti Canon mount would be shipping (we figured that it might be delivered shortly after our Scarlet) so we've had to rent lenses in the interim. Now it turns out that our Canon mount and RPPs are arriving on the same day. In retrospect we could have planned this better, but we're really excited to test everything all at once this afternoon/evening and over the weekend. :)

Well I have spent all day playing with them and they are terrific. The 50mm leaves me lost for words. It's just so sharp and it functions as a wonderful macro lens as well.

I'm quite saddened by Reds lack of response on the matter, I started acquiring a set, and got no warning that the 50 mm would go out of production. It seems like it will be hard to put a complete set together now...

I log onto this every day in the hope of seeing some information on what direction RED intends to go with their lenses and it is really disappointing that so far this has been futile.
